We started in November 2019 by collaborating with HWR for a 3 day-4 night workshop called Himalayan Writing Boot Camp in the Satkhol village of Uttarakhand. The workshop was led by Penguin published author and award-winning blogger Chetan Mahajan. IA sponsored the retreat for two deserving candidates to hone their writing skills.

In late December 2019, IA sponsored another aspiring writer for Masterclass with Manjula organized by The HWR. It was facilitated by Manjula Padmanabhan, an author, cartoonist and award-winning playwright who encourages co-creating stories of and with each other.

In February 2020, HWR offered a workshop by US licensed psychologist and Rupa published author, Dr. Vanita Dubey on Emotional Wellbeing through Writing in Himalayas’, for which IA sponsored one aspiring student. While in the next month of March 2020, IA sponsored another deserving person for Himalayan Writing Boot Camp and one for a Blogging workshop led by Sumit Bansal.

A total of six deserving candidates were offered scholarships for the above mentioned five writing bootcamps.

As the country went into Lockdown, due to the Covid pandemic, in the end of March. HWR began with its online offerings of  Lockdown Writing Workshops. This included workshops on Emotional Wellbeing through Writing as a way to use writing to de-stress and work through the anxiety brought on by the uncertain times of Covid. IA sponsored upto 19 deserving candidates for a total of five workshops in the month of April.

IA continued its scholarship scheme during the lockdown month of May sponsoring five more students. In parallel to these, during the end of May, Author and Mahabharata enthusiast Sai Swaroopa Iyer offered a special story writing competition on lesser known heroes of Kurukshetra, whose ten winners were awarded sponsorship to a writing bootcamp by HWR. The stories written by these ten authors are under publication as an anthology by Indic Academy.

While in the month of June, three more online writing workshops have been offered by HWR, to which IA had offered scholarships to 9  deserving participants. This included 5 teens as a part of Teenage Writing Workshop in collaboration with IGenPlus.
